Editing contigs

The sequences that make up a contig can be edited individually or by column.  Ambiguous columns are indicated by red sequence symbols in the consensus sequence.  When a column has been edited, the sequence symbol at that column is displayed in lower case.

To edit a single sequence

  • Place the caret in the sequence by clicking on the desired position.  The caret will span just the sequence being edited and its trace.
  • Press the delete key to remove a base, or press the desired character to insert a base.
  • To replace a base, first insert the new base, then delete the old base.

To edit a column

  • Place the caret in the consensus sequence by clicking on the column to be changed.  The caret will span all sequences in the column.
  • Press the delete key to remove a base, or press the desired character to insert a base.
  • To replace a base, first insert the new base, then delete the old base.

Note: The Undo and Redo buttons in the toolbar allow you to reverse your edits if necessary.
